Chainstitch embroidery a technique that interlocks the thread as its embroidered with a hook needle, creating a unique chain thread line.  Though created with a machine, the process is done entirely by hand using a directional crank, essentially "drawing" with thread.  This art form dates back over a century and our vintage machine is  from the early 1900's!
